Vision-Box is exhibiting and presenting at Passenger Terminal Expo 2011

This year a new edition of the Passenger Terminal Exhibition is taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 29 to 31 March. This event is considered the World’s leading international airport terminal conference and exhibition, in which speakers and conference delegates include airport presidents and CEOs, directors and managers, creating a valuable interaction amongst buyers and suppliers, all focusing in Airport solutions.

Miguel Leitmann, Vision-Box’s Vice-President for Marketing and Sales is one of the speakers presenting at Passenger Terminal Expo.  ”Automated air and land border crossing in Finland: state-of-the-art integral eBorder system” is the subject of the presentation and Mr. Leitmann is also taking part in the panel on “ABC at crossroads”.

Vision-Box is exhibiting at stand number 2005, come visit us and get to know the most recent Automatic Border Control Gate! This mobile gate has just been deployed in Finland and has proved to be a huge success as a new approach to keep our borders safe while improving the passenger experience. This system performs biometric matching comparing the face of the passenger in real time and the face contained on the electronic passport chip. State Secretary of the Portuguese Communities visits Vision-Box

Vision-Box has received the visit from Dr. AntĂłnio Braga, the State Secretary of the Portuguese Communities and a delegation of his office. The main purpose of the visit was to present the new version of the portable enrolment unit Vision-Box has developed. This new version has, among others, innovate features such as intelligent lightening, electronic document reading and verification, interaction through touch tablet pc, small weight and dimensions, greater autonomy while not connected to a power source and an ergonomic design.

This initiative portrays how important are the inputs and the collaboration process that Vision-Box develops with his customers when in the design phase of our new solutions. Based on this methodology, Vision-Box responds to market needs, deploying innovative solutions that completely fulfill the customer requirements. This is been one of the main strategies that has allowed us to gain international market’s recognition.

Vision-Box visited by the Portuguese Ministry of Internal Administration and Border Police

Vision-Box has received the visit from Dalila AraĂşjo, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Administration, and from the Assistant National Director of the Portuguese Border Services. Vision-Box is now associated with the most emblematic projects of the Ministry of Internal Administration in the areas of border control and biometric data collection. The company is recognized as a success story in the internationalization of Portuguese Technology and its main technology developments are focused in integrated solutions for biometrics and border controls.

In the area of border control, in cooperation with the Portuguese Border Police, they’ve developed innovative technological solutions, that are already deployed all over the world. Almost at the end of the development process, Vision-Box presented in this visit the new model of the mobile bidirectional automatic border control gate, that the Portuguese Border Police will deploy at the Maritime Borders of Lisbon and Funchal, in Madeira Island, responding to the special needs of these borders and passengers flow.

Vision-Box was mentioned yet in another press article, this time for IP Magazine, a Portuguese Magazine. In the 4 full page spread Vision-Box was referred as an example of how a Portuguese company can become such an important reference in the high security technology market. Mr. Bento Correia, Vision-Box’s CEO was interviewed for the article and mentioned the positive and proactive attitude of the company “for this board, business success doesn’t lay only on the technology and innovation of the products, but mostly it is essential to have flexibility in internal processes, and maintain them also structured and focused in customer needs”.

Vision-Box at CARTES & IDentification

Vision-Box exhibited once more at CARTES & IDentification, in the past 7, 8 and 9 December in Paris. This is one of the most important and recognized international events in the digital security, smart technologies, payment and contactless markets. This year’s event was extremely successful with a total of 432 exhibitors and 18,768 visitors with 79% and 72% from outside France.
Vision-Box took this opportunity to exhibit our most recent versions of the mobile ABC Gate that can be easily transported within an airport from one terminal to another; to other airports; to seaports or any other location where document checking and biometric identification is required. The new Portable Enrolment and Verification Unit was also highlighted in the booth, this system contains all the functionalities of the enrolment kiosk but can be easily carried like a business suitcase.

Vision-Box deploys new Mobile e-Gates in Finland

Vision-Box has just deployed a total of 10 mobile automatic border control gates. These are the most recent version on Vision-Box e-Gates and are unique in the world, introducing the mobility concept into the market. This way, besides the usual border check for passenger with e-passport trough biometric matching, these new e-gates can be easily transported within an airport from one terminal to another; to other airports; to seaports or any other location where document checking and biometric identification is required.
This project is furthermore a representation of how Vision-Box can develop fast and fitted solutions to respond to our costumer’s specific needs. Finland trusted Vision-Box once more, after we have supplied them ABC gates for airports and land border locations in the past, they requested Vision-Box’s help in a problem, which we could answer positively with this new product.

Vision-Box was requested to be part of the last issue of TIME Magazine (UK & Ireland Edition). The issue is already on the stands and contains a brochure about Portugal entitled “Portugal, a nation of innovation”. Vision-Box’s President & CEO, Mr. Bento Correia highlighted Vision-Box’s biggest achievements on the automatic border control international market, namely the presence of the e-gates in over 20 airports worldwide, which leads the company to be recognized as the leader in this market. Future perspectives are really positive considering the company entered the market when it was still undeveloped, and now that it’s maturing, growing and requesting specialized technologies, opportunities are multiplying.

Vision-Box was on the cover of the last issue of Exame Magazine, one of the most important business magazines in Portugal. The subject of the article was “How Portuguese technologies innovate and win”, and the President & CEO Mr. Bento Correia, and the Vice-President Mr. Miguel Leitmann were interviewed to explain how Vision-Box is still succeeding during this economic downfall.
Vision-Box was chosen for this article also due to its recent growth and international expansion. The company holds currently the leader title in automatic border control market, with over 200 systems deployed worldwide. In the article, Vision-Box’s history since the start of the company is described, as well as middle and long term plans for the future, where USA have been considered.

Vision-Box New Product – Portable Enrolment and Verification Unit

Vision-Box created an all-in-one portable unit that collects biometric enrolment data, and which also performs ID checks by connecting with local or centralized databases. The versatility and size of this new system are the key drivers for its multiple applications: Citizen enrolment in large territories with dispersed populations, enhanced security checks at any location (field clearance, road blocks, prison inspections, work and residence permit follow-ups) or even contingent border controls, and many others.
It has already been deployed in South Africa for Portuguese passport issuance during the 2010 World Cup. It comprises all the features included in the acknowledged vb E-Pass kiosk, which is used in more than 150 countries and has gathered biometric information from more than 4 million citizens, with an unbeatable track record.
