On 8th July 2008, the Finnish Border Guard placed in service, at the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, the automatic border control system based on biometric identification, developed by Vision Box – the VBeGATE.
Over three million people pass through the passport control at the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Most of them, approximately 60 per cent, are EU citizens. If they carry an electronic biometric passport, they can make use of the automatic border control machines.
