The challenge

In airports, the process of checking-in, passing through security, enduring the lines at immigration control and boarding the plane can take, in some cases, longer than the flight itself. Consequently, many passengers associate the airport atmosphere with lines snaking along the check-in area, wasting time in lengthy security procedures and burdensome immigration processes. This has an obvious impact on people’s perception of airports and on the time passengers have to spend in the retail areas. In truth, why invest in the busiest retail areas of the world if passengers are stuck for hours in security procedures and have no time to shop?

Additionally, the new independent-minded traveler is someone who is always rushing off to a meeting or that just wants to get to the vacation spot fast. This means that airports need to adjust accordingly to this new travel environment and create a more pleasant and modern environment for passengers while benefiting from it and guaranteeing superior security levels at all touch points?

Luckily, there is a window of opportunity to embrace modern technology and satisfy the traveler who is used to getting everything in an instant!

Highest security levels

Our automated self-service enrollment and verification solutions are replacing error-prone traditional manual procedures with a solution based on state-of-the-art identification and verification technology, which enables a quick identification of fraud and potentially high risk passengers. Integrated with robust hardware, an efficient and effective control platform makes it possible for airports to better manage traffic and access to security areas, as well as identity potential threats.

Built upon the Privacy-by-Design principle, the solution ensures responsible data sharing across all airport stakeholders and a cross-match of information and critical data with other sources from national and international security organizations.

Maximized non-aviation revenue

Automated processes have the potential to reduce operational costs and maximize the value of the existing physical infrastructure by reducing lines, waiting times and anxiety. This, in turn, will lead passengers to spend more time shopping and enjoying the airport retail areas, potentially turning airports into super malls, attracting valued retailers and increasing mixed use land values, thus creating greater opportunities for increased non-flight revenue.

Happy Flow is becoming a well-known passenger experience brand in the airport world. Named a #1 airport innovation of 2015 by Airport Business Magazine, it offers speedy, passenger-centric, on-the-move interactions and a straightforward, happy ground journey on the cutting edge of technology. Passengers notice the difference!

The challenge

With very positive growth forecast in the coming years, airlines are being challenged with the need to improve efficiency, minimize flight delays, and keep passengers safe and happy. Along with intensifying competition and air traffic, as well as demanding travelers and public opinion, particularly concerning flight delays, airlines are increasingly focused on improving the passenger experience, designing new initiatives and services to be delivered both on-board and on the ground, beginning at the entrance to the airport.

Vision-Box® is developing technology closely with airlines that will help raise customer loyalty by improving the passenger management process.

How do we help airlines improve passenger experience immediately on arrival to the airport?

More on-time flights!

Vision-Box® provides a passenger-friendly authentication process based on highly accurate biometric matching technology. Our self-service solutions bring together speed and efficiency to passenger control checkpoints, swiftly processing passengers at bottleneck locations in airports such as baggage drops, check-in, security, immigration, customs, and boarding.

By reducing the time it takes passengers to cross various control points, the probability that passengers board on time rises considerably, making airlines more likely to improve flight punctuality. Every additional on-time flight is important in cost savings and, of course, passenger loyalty!

Increased security

With self-service processes, from check-in to boarding, the passenger experience improves drastically, facilitating passenger flow across all points. This is achieved without compromising security in the slightest. Our robust touch points, monitored by a secure integrated management and monitoring platform, are equipped with powerful multi-biometric algorithms, alarm systems and intelligent video surveillance, as well as being integrated with flight lists and third party systems. This allows airlines to effectively guarantee a secure boarding process, ensuring that the correct person enters the airplane.

Boosted customer loyalty

With the rise of the new traveler, adept with technology, independent, and used to getting everything in an instant, airlines need to integrate 21st century technology into passenger self-service processes and interactions that put the passenger at the center of the action.

With Happy Flow, passengers are invited to go through a very low footprint touch points self-service biometric check-in process, using self-service baggage drops and self-boarding eGates, without the need to show travel documents, using only biometrics as the identification token. This way, passengers feel in control inside the airport, instead of the burdensome pressures of manual border control identification processes, allowing the traveler to feel in control of their journey inside the airport, enjoying a quick, straightforward, and convenient process.

The reliable consistency of efficient and secure biometric procedures, from check-in to boarding, offers an innovational edge of passenger identification and processing, resulting in a smooth journey and ultimately improving customer satisfaction and loyalty.

The challenge

A country is only as well protected as its weakest entry and exit point. While it is clear that not every land, sea and air border point can be controlled, it is urgent to develop strategies to control borders in an integrated and cohesive way.

Countries across the globe are rethinking their border control strategies, with the ultimate goal of enhancing their national security levels while ensuring that travelers are not exposed to uncomfortable and time consuming border clearance processes.

VB_SITE_Esquema_Happy_Flow_2000x1350px

Unified border control management at every Entry/Exit point

Another persistent challenge is the threat of terrorism, a struggle for many countries who have sought to address the situation by deploying additional human resources in the attempt to tighten control and increase security levels. While tremendous effort is put into improving border security at airports, it may leave land borders and seaports, if not completely open, at least more vulnerable. As it stands today, few countries have invested in the vertical integration of their borders, leaving only a few with a centralized overview of their entry and exit points.

Vision-Box® is working with several countries tackling the challenges of border security to build a nationwide border control framework (NBCF) that allows an integrated approach to border protection and increased efficiency while still ensuring a positive traveler experience. The NBCF combines an Automated Border Control solution in every Entry/Exit point with a powerful central IT platform integrating all the information and allowing for a real-time overview of what is happening at each border.

Seamless and secure control process

The incorporation of Automated Border Control (ABC) in a country’s Entry/Exit points facilitates passenger clearance while simultaneously enhancing security. Using a self-service system, passengers authenticate their biometry (face, fingerprint and/or iris) against their identification or travel documents. In this manner, border guards can shift their efforts from traditional verification of travel documents, photos and travel purposes to other critical situations, adding more value in reinforcing security.

In turn, positively identifying travelers and checking them against criminal databases in real-time ensures a strong and effective border control. In land and sea borders, our ABC systems can identify vehicles crossing borders through license plate recognition technology.

A complete border management strategy enables a reduction in illegal travel and facilitates the automatic identification of overstays, allowing a fast, precise and automatic identification of risk and potential threats.

Immigration System Integrity

With the implementation of a central IT platform, border control authorities are given an overview of the security infrastructure of the travelers’ identity, as well as tools for flow management, with unlimited scalability. This platform facilitates information and critical data cross-matching, with third-party platforms and with international security organizations, guaranteeing improved information security and intelligence and increased investigation efficiency.

VB_SITE_botao_Learn_More_310x75px_UP_with_txt

Facilitation of Travel and Trade

By automating border control procedures, the flow of non-risk people is encouraged, allowing travelers to experience a simplified process and reduced border-crossing times without compromising security. Automated Border Control actually opens the way to cross-community collaboration and the exchange of people and goods, resulting in major economic and social benefits.
